Pressurised Suit Operatives

The training period usually lasts for approximately 8 weeks and has been developed to ensure all new entrants are given the same level of information regardless of their background. This approach ensures that all staff are at the same level of expertise at the conclusion of the training period. Dressing procedures are introduced at an early stage of the training. Each stage of the dressing procedure is fully explained to ensure that safety is in everyone's thoughts throughout all operations. Team Work A very important part of the training is the ability to work as part of a team. This aspect of our training has been reinforced by allocating all entrants into teams for the duration of the course.

Emergency Drills

Emergency drills are practiced almost continually throughout the training period to ensure that all new entrants react instinctively in any circumstance. The range of emergencies the trainees may have to deal with includes damage to suits or airlines, an operative becoming ill, injured, or any number of outside influences such as a fire in the building they are operating in.

Operative Skills

Throughout the training all new entrants are provided instruction on a wide range of tooling that they will be expected to use once they have completed their NVQ Decommissioning Certificates. This training includes safe inspection, use and maintenance of tooling. The key to the success of this aspect of the training is the realistic length and type of operations undertaken.

Building Procedures

All new entrants are trained to safely enter controlled and supervised areas in line with current industry best practice and site procedures. This includes the use of common items of personal monitoring equipment.
